Biography:
Katharina is a PhD candidate in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at the University of Otago, New Zealand. Her research focuses on the microbiology, diagnostics, and antimicrobial susceptibility of paediatric bone and joint infections, with a particular interest in Kingella kingae. She has developed expertise in molecular and culture-based methods to improve pathogen detection and inform treatment. Katharina is passionate about translational research at the interface of microbiology and clinical care and aims to pursue a career in infectious diseases research.
