Abstract:
Equipment calibration, verification and standardization are crucial for ensuring the integrity of research and preventing accidental or intentional releases of biological materials in the context of laboratory biosafety and biosecurity management. Calibration establishes the relationship between an instrument's readings and a known standard, while verification confirms that the equipment meets performance requirements. Standardization refers to the establishment of common specifications and criteria for equipment and processes, aimed at replicability and compatibility. These processes are essential for maintaining accuracy, preventing errors, and ensuring the safe handling of biological agents. Calibration and verification also contribute to biosecurity by ensuring that equipment used in security measures, such as access control systems and monitoring devices, function correctly. A crucial aspect of biorisk management is identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with equipment malfunction or misuse. ISO 9001:2015 QMS certified Fowl Cholera vaccine production laboratory maintain preventive maintenance plan by daily, six monthly and annually. The labortory also maintain calibration & verification regularly. In FC lab data are collected from last two years equipment calibration report and also from repair & maintenance report. Incidence of machine breakdown are reduce and Production of FC lab are smoothly running by maintain biosafety & biosecurity. Regular calibration and verification, along with other risk management measures, are part of a continuous improvement cycle to ensure the biosafety and biosecurity of the laboratory. This includes regular audits, feedback from personnel, and adjustments to procedures and practices based on emerging risks. Verification, calibration, and standardization are interdependent processes that contribute to the overall accuracy of measurement instruments. That helps journey to long road of quality and innovation in biosafety and biosecurity management in the FC lab.
