Biography:
Gert Folkerts main research lines focus on society-relevant topics such as air pollution, antimicrobial resistance, COPD, and asthma. His work emphasizes use-inspired fundamental pathophysiological and immunopharmacological research on chronic inflammatory diseases and viral/bacterial infections. He is a member of the Scientific Advice Committee of the Dutch Lung Fund and the Carbohydrate Competence Centre (Carbokinetics), as well as Vice-chair of the consortium "Stop Spreading Bad Bugs," an Horizon ITN awarded in 2022. With an H-factor of 60, Gert Folkerts is ranked in the top 2% of the most influential researchers globally across all scientific disciplines, according to Elsevier in 2022.
